Although public support for the return of the defenders is tepid, Qi’an is currently the only region within the realm of Samhan willing to turn a blind eye to the realms collective longstanding policy of isolationism. There are currently no formal means for defenders or visitors to reach Samhan via official channels. The value of reclaiming the wild outside their city walls via the defenders might is a worthy investment versus the influx of newcomers to its borders. The rulers’ inability to restore balance themselves forces the elements into deeper disarray. The heirlooms of the founding defenders of Samhan radiate their call for help like beacons directing its blood back home.
It is through these heirlooms where every defenders story begins. The call to return to their ancestral homeland does not arrive in the form of a letter but in their dreams, like whispers with no voices, a persisting instinct to reclaim their birthright. A defenders call to return home radiates from the necklace they carry with them on their risky voyage to a home as familiar as it is foreign.
The value of Quintessence
All equipment of high protective value, like every defender’s necklace, is composed of quintessence, the primary and universally common building block of all base elements and their children. these visibly equippable relics represent the element they were forged from by its color as well as a rich representation of an ancient culture brought back to life.
quintessence can be extracted from various plants and minerals and crafted into effective defenses against the monsters that roam the realm of Samhan. Equipment fortified with quintessence continues to be the only naturally occurring protection against all the elements and their children. It does not exist on its own and must be extracted along with the primary element its composed of. In the hands of a master craftsman any elemental object can be divested or reforged into a new elemental object.
Samhan has always been a hermit society even when defenders freely travelled beyond its borders. Any written record of it’s preeminence is scattered within personal libraries across the globe. The history, culture and traditions are preserved intergenerationally, usually oral legacies like family legends. Much of its past only exists in the memories of stories told by their ancestors, and expressed through the form and function of the combat equipment they wore. The meaning behind the designs of these original heirlooms will be interpreted and chronicled by the defenders who study and research their unique characteristics.
The following heirlooms will only be available for the founding years after Samhan opens its borders to the outside world. They have stood the weathering of time in the bellies of monsters, or unearthed under the defenders feet after a successful slaying of a dangerous foe. The original returning defenders will encounter a plethora of heirlooms at first of varying quality. Many generations of defenders before them have fallen in combat by the hands of monsters and their finely crafted equipment lays where it first fell, waiting ages to be reclaimed and put to use again.

The relationship between base and child elements is represented below:
Heirlooms: NECKLACES, PENDANTS & CHARMS
Starting with 7 initial designs, eventually there will be dozens of different styles of necklaces returned to the realm they were originally crafted from. Every defender who finds Samhan follows their necklace’s call to the nexus that connects the elemental world with the physical, like a dowsing rod finds water.
The defender will need to sacrifice this heirloom to forge their first defenders armor, stripping it of its quintessence and returning it as an ornamental keepsake without any elemental affinity. The necklace can be dyed in any color the owner prefers after its quintessence has been extracted.

Going forward the perpetual hunt for other sources of quintessence motivates the defender to continually acquire, stockpile and divest into raw, reusable materials. These elemental items bolsters the effectiveness and protection against discordant elemental energies.
Like the defender’s necklace, shields are also elementally composed and will vary in protection despite their consistent appearance. Unlike necklaces, shields are reclaimed from the most dangerous of enemies after slaying them and plundering their nest.

Heirlooms: DIVESTING & FREE MARKET
Quintessence is the most valuable commodity in the realm, above gold and water. It occurs naturally in raw minerals and plant life that thrive where elemental energy radiates the strongest.
It is more abundant, and therefore more effective and desirable to find relics forged of high concentrations of quintessence when it was more plentiful and easier to acquire.
Weapons (along with shields and other equipment found deep within the caves and corners of Samhan) may hold tremendous value in the open market in respect to their rarity of design and craftsmanship of its qualities. Inversely, their value may be in the raw material that it is comprised of and given new life as a modern designed weapon, shield, helm, necklace, ring or something else entirely valuable. Quintessence can not be destroyed or created, merely discovered and recycled.
Expanding the borders of Qi’an and incorporating new territory into its influence introduces different designs or prerequisite growth in various areas of training in order to wield. As the realm welcomes defenders beyond Qi’an’s territory defenders will discover fewer, but far more valuable heirlooms but also entire new cultures of artisans with their own unique creations available to buy.
Defenders will forever yearn for higher value equipment, and any object in the realm comprised of elemental energy is necessary in its own way to attain greater pieces of profound mastery.
Radiant Heirlooms:
The charmed owners of radiant equipment will have a hard decision: is the high concentration of quintessence worth divesting, or preserving it in its natural form and venerating its rarity.
All types of equipment exists in radiant form, sometimes permanent and other times a side effect of an enhancing ability placed on the piece
imbued abilities:
The Mystical Celestial Fingers stretch forth, resembling the elegant talons of ancient court spirits.
Their ethereal grip shift your weapon in accordance with the whims of destiny, manipulated by arcane servos woven into the very fabric of existence.
All heirlooms have a chance of possessing additional characteristics that provide exceptional benefits to its function, above its unique attributes and design.
Examples of such enhancements are:
01
Temporary Reputation
is a light source... Gives temp reputation to an elementary
02
Advanced harden body
Like you know how harden body has a shitty proc rate. Like 20%. You can have a subpath item that increases the rate by 2%.
You can gate keep it however you want.
03
reflect missed attacks
when spell attacks miss it reflects an effect back. Like an internal bleeding stack
04
glove/hand equipment slot:
hand items have hand related effects. Like gloves that are designed do a thing. Like wearing special gloves increases the chance (say be 3x) the proc rate of a weapon. So if your weapon can summon wolves on hit. It's 3 times faster with special gloves.
05
reduced cooldown
lowering a random cooldown by 2 seconds every 20 seconds
